Caution
Before removing toothed belt – set crankshaft to 60°
(dimension I) before TDC mark.
Remove
Remove air cleaner housing – see illustration "Air Ducts X
14 XE, Z 14 XE, X 16 XEL,Z 16 XE, Z 16 YNG" or "Air Ducts X 18 XE1,
Z 18 XE, Z 18 XEL".
Remove upper part of toothed belt cover – see operation
"Toothed Belt Cover – Upper Part, Remove and Install".
Remove ribbed V-belts – see operation "Ribbed V-belts,
Remove and Install".
Remove ribbed V-belt tensioner – see operation "Ribbed
V-belt Tensioner, Remove and Install".

Install
Screw fastening bolt for toothed belt drive gear in
crankshaft.
Remove
Detach camshaft sensor (1) from cylinder head and place to one
side.
|
|
Adjust
Turn crankshaft in engine rotation direction to "1st cylinder
TDC" (III). The marks on the camshaft pulleys must be opposite one
another (I).
Install
Fix camshaft pulleys in position with KM-852 (II).
Remove
Release fastening bolt for toothed belt tension roller (IV) and
turn adjusting eccentric in direction of arrow (clockwise) until
pointer (1) is located just before left stop.
Remove toothed belt and place to one side.

|
Loosen fixing bolts (3) of KM-6347 (1). Insert KM-6347 and
KM-956-1 (2) in camshaft pulley, making sure that it is correctly
positioned.
Note: The grooves of
KM-6347 (arrows) must engage in the camshaft pulley.
Turn KM-6347 in the direction of the arrow and tighten the
fixing bolts. Release fastening bolt (4) from the camshaft pulley.
Undo the fixing bolts of KM-6347 and remove KM-6347. Take out the
camshaft pulley fastening bolt and remove the camshaft pulley.
Note: Camshaft pulley
with cover for cylinder recognition is mounted on the exhaust
camshaft.
Install
Fit the camshaft pulleys onto the camshafts with new bolts and
timing marks to the front. Make sure that the camshaft guide pegs
engage in the holes in the camshaft pulleys.
Insert the fastening bolt in the camshaft pulley but do not
tighten it yet.
Insert KM-6347 and KM-956-1 in camshaft pulley, making sure that
it is correctly positioned.
Note: The grooves of
KM-6347 (arrows) must engage in the camshaft pulley.
Rotate KM-6347 and tighten the fixing bolts.
Tighten the camshaft pulley fastening bolt - tightening torque
50 Nm + 60° + 15°.
Undo the fixing bolts of KM-6347 and remove KM-6347.
|
|
Install toothed belt – ensure that tensioned side (I) is
taut.
Caution
Note timing mark.
Install
Adjust toothed belt tension – see operation "Toothed Belt
Tension, Adjust".
Attach camshaft sensor to cylinder head – insert bolts
with screw locking compound (red) – tightening torque 8 Nm /
6 lbf. ft.
