Alternator, Remove and Install
 Remove
|
Remove air cleaner housing with air intake cover – see
illustration "Air Ducts (X 16 SZR)" and illustration "Air Ducts (Z
16 SE)".
Remove ribbed V-belts – see operation "Ribbed V-belts,
Remove and Install".
Remove alternator support (1) from alternator and intake
manifold.
Release alternator from alternator shackle (3) with wiring
harness bracket (5) and swing rearwards.
Unclip cable bunch from cable bunch bracket and remove cable
bunch bracket.
Remove cable connections (2) from alternator.
Remove lower alternator fastening bolt (4) and remove alternator
from alternator support.

Engine) in group "J".
Disassemble and reassemble alternator – see operation
"Bosch Compact Alternator, Disassemble and Reassemble" (X 16 XEL
Engine) in group "J".
Install
Position alternator in alternator support and hand-tighten lower
alternator fastening bolt.
Attach cable connections to alternator.
Attach alternator and wiring harness bracket to alternator
shackle – tightening torque 20 Nm / 15 lbf. ft.
Clip cable bundle to cable bundle bracket.
Attach alternator support to alternator and intake manifold
– tightening torque 20 Nm / 15 lbf. ft.
Install lower alternator fastening bolt – tightening
torque 35 Nm / 26 lbf. ft.
Install ribbed V-belt – see operation "Ribbed V-belt,
Remove and Install".
Install air cleaner housing with air intake cover – see
illustration "Air Ducts (X 16 SZR)" and illustration "Air Ducts (Z
16 SE)".
