Injection Pump VP 29, X 17 DTL

The mechanically controlled distributor injection pump installed in the X 17 DTL for the Astra-F has been replaced in the Astra-G by an electronically controlled distributor injection pump with the designation VP 29. The external dimensions, with the exception of the attached pump control unit, correspond to those of the conventional distributor injection pump. The location and the function of the electronic components in the VP 29 are comparable with those of the VP 44 distributor injection pump installed in the X 20 DTL for the Vectra-B, although the VP 29 is an axial piston pump and the VP 44 is a radial piston pump.

The main features of the VP 29 are:

•  Axial piston pump

•  Attached pump control unit

•  High quantity regulation and fast adaptive control by high pressure solenoid valve

•  Angle/time control of solenoid valve using rotary angle sensor integrated into pump

•  Pump pressure up to 780 bar

•  High quantity accuracy in characteristic map due to multi-point calibration in pump control unit

•  Start of delivery regulation without needle motion sensor

•  Start of delivery adjustment not required

Caution:

The VP 29 injection pump must not be subjected to repair operations. If a defect occurs, the injection pump complete with the pump control unit must be replaced.
