Field Remedy: 2033

Remedy:

In case of customer complaint install two additional ground cable to
the engine control unit. Use special parts as shown below.

Procedure:

 1. Disconnect battery.

 2. Remove upper engine cover.

    - Remove 2x screw

 3. Unlatch and detach cable connector from engine control 
    unit (3) (Picture I).

 4. Open cable duct (1).

    - detach 2x hose clamp (arrows)
    - detach 2x hose (2)
    - clip off cable duct

 5. Identify cable ground air mass meter (yellow cable) and ground cable 
    coolant temperature sensor (brown cable)(Picture II).

    Notice:
    Follow both cables from current module to the middle of the cable duct
    and proceed with following steps.

    - check ground cable air mass meter for continuity 
      against Pin 48
    - check ground cable cooling sensor for continuity 
      against Pin 07

 6. Connect ground cable air mass meter with special part 
    (yellow cable) (Picture III).

    - cut and dismantle cable (1) in the centre area
    - mount shrink hose
    - crimp end of ground cable air mass meter and special part (2)

 7. Connect ground cable coolant temperature sensor with special part 
    (brown cable).

    - cut and dismantle cable (1) displaced from crimping 
      position of ground cable air mass meter
    - mount shrink hose
    - crimp end of ground cable cooling sensor and special part (2)

    Notice:
    Produce Y-connections displaced from each other by crimping.
    The original connection remains unchanged. The end of special 
    part must point in direction of control unit.

 8. Heat up 2x shrink hose (1) (Picture IV).

 9. Install both special parts (1) to the engine control unit (2)
    (Picture V).

    - remove 2x screw
    - attach each screw with one special part

10.  Install protection hose (1) between wiring harness and engine 
    control unit (Picture VI).

    - Install protection hose to both special parts and insert it 
      in wiring harness

11. Close cable duct

    - clip on cable duct cover
    - attach 2x hose
    - attach 2x hose clamp

12. Connect battery.

13. Delete trouble codes.

14. Program volatile memories.
