Transmission Fluid Level, Check and Correct (AF
13-II/AF 17/AF 20/AF 22)
Prior to fluid level check: Let engine run in idle for one
minute with selector lever in "P" position. Shift selector lever
once through all positions from "P" to "1" and then back again.
Caution
Prior to and during fluid level check, selector lever must be in
"P" position with engine running.
Note: Shake
transmission fluid can (1) prior to use (as shown in pictogram
(2)), to ensure mixture of the additives. If this is not observed,
the fluid foams up during driving operation, which can lead to
faults in the transmission.

Check and correct transmission fluid level (AF
13-II/AF 17):
Measure
Measure transmission fluid temperature with TECH 2 – see
Checking Procedure "AF 13-II/AF 17/AF 20/AF 22 Automatic 4-Speed
Transmission Astra-G ". Charge transmission fluid to relevant upper
mark.
For cold transmission (below + 35 °C ambient temperature,
within one minute with engine idling) correct fluid level must lie
between markings on the side of fluid dipstick showing "MIN + 20
°C".
For warm transmission (approx. 80 °C – after
travelling distance of approx. 20 km) correct fluid level must lie
between markings of fluid dipstick showing "MAX + 80 °C".

Check and correct transmission fluid level (AF
20/AF 22):
Measure
Measure transmission fluid temperature with MKM-596-A or
comparable fluid temperature gauge.
Charge transmission fluid to "MAX":
For cold transmission (below + 35 °C ambient temperature,
within one minute with engine idling) correct fluid level must lie
between "MIN" and "MAX" of fluid dipstick on the side showing "+ 20
°C".
For warm transmission (approx. 80 °C – after a
travelling distance of approximately 20 km), correct fluid level
must lie between "MIN" and "MAX" on fluid dipstick on the side
showing "+ 80 °C".
Fluid quality, see section "Technical Data".
