Field Remedy: 1325

Remedy:

Install additional ground cable.

Working Procedure:

Please note the "General Warnings and Safety Regulations" of 
unit "N" when carrying out this field remedy.

 1. Disconnect battery.
 2. Remove panelling - signal switch,

     - see working procedure "Panelling - Signal Switch, Remove
       and Install", Unit "C", Service Instruction Astra-G.

 3. Remove signal- and wiper switch.
 4. Disconnect wiring harness plug airbag-unit driver's side.
 5. Remove cover - instrument assembly,

     - see working procedure "Cover - Instrument Assembly, Remove
       and Install" Unit "C", Service Instruction Astra-G.

 6. Remove lock cylinder,

     - see working procedure "Lock Cylinder for Steering / 
     Ignition Lock, Remove and Install", Unit "N", Service 
     Instruction Astra-G.

 7. Remove nut from ground stud (Pic. I, 1).

 8. Remove immobiliser control unit,

     - see working procedure "Immobiliser Control Unit, Remove 
     and Install", Unit "J", Service Instruction Astra-G.

 9. Remove and open cable duct.
10. Lay ground cable (Pic. II, 2) through cable duct.

11. Lay ground cable to ground stud and install nut to ground 
    stud (Pic. III).

12. Close and install cable duct.
13. Connect wiring harness plug airbag-unit driver's side.
14. Install immobiliser control unit (Pic. IV, 3) with
    ground cable (Pic. IV, 4),

     - see working procedure "Immobiliser Control Unit, Remove 
     and Install", Unit "J", Service Instruction Astra-G.

   Note that the shining copper-side of ground-cable has 
   electrical connection with the ignition lock.
   After assembly the resistance between ignition lock and one 
   ground-point (0 Ohm) should be checked.

15. Install lock cylinder,

     - see working procedure "Lock Cylinder for Steering / 
     Ignition Lock, Remove and Install", Unit "N", Service 
     Instruction Astra-G.

16. Install cover - instrument assembly,

     - see working procedure "Cover - Instrument Assembly, Remove
       and Install" Unit "C", Service Instruction Astra-G.

17. Install signal- and wiper switch.
18. Install panelling - signal switch,

     - See working procedure "Panelling - Signal Switch, Remove
       and Install", Unit "C", Service Instruction Astra-G.

19. Connect battery.
20. Reprogram volatile memories.
