Special tools: rear axle, rear axle suspension > < Rear Axle, Remove and Install

Replace rear axle

  Remove

1.   Remove rear axle
2.   Detach 2x handbrake cable brackets from rear axle
3.   In vehicles with drum brakes: detach 2x brake lining bracket from rear axle
4.   Detach wheel bearing unit complete with drum brakes if necessary from rear axle
•   Detach 8x wheel bearing unit nuts
•   Remove 2 x wheel bearing unit with drum brakes from rear axle
Note:   Do not lay components on brake line when putting them down.

  Install

5.   Attach 2x wheel bearing unit, complete, to rear axle, with drum brake if applicable
•   Tighten 8x new nut 50 Nm + 30° + 15°
6.   For vehicles with drum brake: attach 2x brake line bracket to rear axle 8 Nm
7.   Attach 2x handbrake cable bracket to rear axle 8 Nm
8.   Install rear axle
