Work Order Description

Nominal Value

T001

Check: Short to Ground of Voltage Supply Circuit

  • Ignition OFF
  • Reconnect all disconnected components
  • All consumers turned off
  • Ignition ON
  • Insert new fuse FR37 and then check the fuse for proper operation.

Test okay?

Yes: No:
T002

Check: Short to Ground of Voltage Supply Circuit

  • Ignition OFF
  • Disconnect wiring harness connector from:
    X131 Rear Electronic Module
    (Wiring Harness Connector XR5 )
  • Ignition ON
  • Insert new fuse FR37 and then check the fuse for proper operation.

Test okay?

Yes: No:
T003

Check: Short to Ground of Voltage Supply Circuit

  • Ignition OFF
  • Connect fused jumper wire to:
    X131 Rear Electronic Module
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 37 (XR5)
    &
    Battery voltage
  • Ignition ON
  • Check the following component for proper operation:
    Fuse of the fused jumper wire

Test okay?

Yes: No:

  • Ignition OFF
  • Remove fused jumper wire
  • Disconnect wiring harness connector from:
    E1_E68 Lamp - Passenger Compartment
  • Connect fused jumper wire to:
    X131 Rear Electronic Module
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 19 (XR5)
    &
    Battery voltage
  • Ignition ON
  • Check the following component for proper operation:
    Fuse of the fused jumper wire

Check: Short to Ground of Voltage Supply Circuit

  • Ignition OFF
  • Disconnect wiring harness connector from:
    E120L Lamp - Sunshade, Left
  • Ignition ON
  • Insert new fuse into the socket of the fused jumper wire and then check this fuse for proper operation.
  • Disconnect each of the following components/control units consecutively from the wiring harness and repeat the check each time:
    E120R Lamp - Sunshade, Right

    E1_M16 Lamp - Passenger Compartment, Rear
  • Ignition ON
  • Insert new fuse into the socket of the fused jumper wire and then check this fuse for proper operation.

Test okay?

Yes: No:

  • Disconnect wiring harness connector from:
    E94 Lamp - Passenger Compartment, Rear
  • Ignition ON
  • Insert new fuse into the socket of the fused jumper wire and then check this fuse for proper operation.

  • Insert new fuse into the socket of the fused jumper wire and then check this fuse for proper operation.

  • Ignition OFF
  • Remove fused jumper wire
  • Disconnect wiring harness connector from:
    E67 Lamp - Passenger Compartment
  • Connect fused jumper wire to:
    X131 Rear Electronic Module
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 19 (XR5)
    &
    Battery voltage
  • Ignition ON
  • Check the following component for proper operation:
    Fuse of the fused jumper wire

E001 Result: System Overload
  • A temporary current overload in the system behind fuse FR37 has occurred
E002 Result: Defective Component
  • Defective component:
    E1_E68 Lamp - Passenger Compartment
E003 Result: Defective Component
  • If the nominal value is reached during one of the measurements, the component/control unit that has been disconnected immediately before that measurement is defective.
E004 Result: Defective Component
  • Defective component:
    E1_M16 Lamp - Passenger Compartment, Rear
E005 Result: Short to Ground
  • Short circuit to ground between:
    X131 Rear Electronic Module
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 19 (XR5)
    &
    Wiring harness connector terminals of all components (wiring harness side), which were disconnected from the wiring harness during this troubleshooting session

Important:

Reset the concerned control unit with the diagnostic tester before replacing it. In order to do that, call up the "RESET" function from the PROGRAMMING menu of the current system on the diagnostic tester.
