Radiator, Replace (Z 20 LEH)
 Remove

Disconnect battery

Detach ground connection from ground terminal
|

Remove radiator grille (2)
| • |
Remove 4x body-bound rivets (1)
|
| • |
Unclip from front panelling from above
|
|
|
|
| 4. |
Secure radiator to upper brackets (1)
| • |
Insert 2x suitable tools
|
|
|
|
| 5. |
Raise vehicle by half its height
|
| 6. |
Detach front panelling (3)
| • |
Remove 5x body-bound rivets (2)
|
|
|
|
| 7. |
Place collecting basin underneath.
|
| 8. |
Detach high-pressure headlamp cleaning system hose from
reservoir (2)
| • |
Undo quick-release fitting (1)
Note: Escaping
fluid
|
|
|
|

Remove front panelling
| • |
Second man
Note: Push front
panelling upwards at side and pull out of bracket
|
| • |
Detach front panelling from bracket
|
| • |
Unclip outside temperature sensor
|
|
|
|
| 10. |
Raise vehicle by half its height
|
| 11. |
Place collecting basin underneath.
|
| 12. |
Drain coolant
| • |
Open drain bolt on radiator (1)
|
|
|
|
| 13. |
Detach fan wiring harness from fan housing
| • |
Disconnect wiring harness plug (1)
|
|
|
|
| 14. |
Remove bracket, right side of radiator (2)
|
| 15. |
Remove bracket, left side of radiator (1)
|
|
|
| 16. |
Lower vehicle by its full height
|
| 17. |
Detach charge air hose, turbocharger (1) from intercooler
|
|
|
| 18. |
Remove charge air hose, intercooler to charge air pipe
| • |
Release 2x clamps (1,2)
|
|
|
|
| 19. |
Detach coolant return hose, coolant expansion tank (1) from
radiator
|
|
|
| 20. |
Detach fan housing from radiator and intercooler
| • |
Unclick fan housing from intercooler
|
|
|
|
| 22. |
Detach upper radiator hose from radiator
|
| 23. |
Raise vehicle by its full height
|
| 24. |
Detach lower radiator hose from radiator
|
| 25. |
Detach air conditioning wiring harness from radiator
|
|
|
| 26. |
Detach compressor wiring harness from radiator
|
| 27. |
Lower vehicle by half its height
|
| 28. |
Suspend condenser from upper air baffle
|
| 29. |
Detach intercooler and condenser from radiator
|
| 30. |
Remove 2x radiator retainers from bracket
|
| 31. |
Lower radiator down and out
Note: Avoid damaging
the radiator fins
|
Install
| 32. |
Install radiator from below
Note: Avoid damaging
the radiator fins
| • |
Insert 2x radiator retainers in bracket
|
|
| 33. |
Attach radiator to intercooler with condenser
Important: Insert bolt with screw
locking compound
|
| • |
Tighten 4x bolt 5 Nm
|
|

Detach condenser from closure plate
|
| 35. |
Attach air conditioning wiring harness to radiator
|
| 36. |
Attach lower radiator hose to radiator
|
| 37. |
Install left radiator bracket
|
| 38. |
Install right radiator bracket
|
| 39. |
Attach fan wiring harness to fan housing
| • |
Fix wiring harness plug
|
|
| 40. |
Lower vehicle by its full height
|
| 41. |
Attach upper radiator hose to radiator
|
| 42. |
Insert fan housing
| • |
Clip coolant hose into bracket
|
|
| 43. |
Attach fan housing to radiator
|
| 44. |
Attach coolant return hose, coolant expansion tank to
radiator
|
| 45. |
Attach charge air hose, turbocharger to intercooler
|
| 46. |
Fit charge air hose between charge air pipe and intercooler
| • |
Tighten 2x clamps 3.5 Nm
|
|
| 47. |
Raise vehicle by its full height
|
| 48. |
Insert front panelling
| • |
Second man
Note: Slide side front
panelling into bracket
|
| • |
Attach front panelling to bracket
|
| • |
Clip in outside temperature sensor
|
|
| 49. |
Attach high-pressure headlamp cleaning hose to reservoir
| • |
Connect quick release fitting
|
|
| 50. |
Fit front panelling
| • |
Install 5x body-bound rivets
|
|
| 51. |
Lower vehicle by half its height
|
| 52. |
Remove 2x radiator retainers from bracket
|
| 53. |
Install radiator grille
| • |
Clip into front panelling from below
|
| • |
Install 4x body-bound rivets
|
|
| 54. |
Connect battery
| • |
Attach ground connection to ground terminal
|
|
| 55. |
Fill and bleed cooling system 
|
| 56. |
Programme transient memory
