Check engine for leaks
Note: Engine at
operating temperature (oil temperature >= 80 °C).
Inspect
1. |
With engine running, place tester on coolant compensation
tank.
|
2. |
By actuating rubber bellows, air is sucked from coolant
compensation tank. Coolant must not be sucked out. If blue fluid in
upper chamber of test apparatus turns yellow, cylinder head gasket
or cylinder head is leaking.
|
3. |
Operation:
In the clear cylinder of the tester there is a blue reactive fluid
that turns yellow when air is suctioned containing the smallest
amount of carbon monoxide. When fresh air is suctioned, the test
fluid is regenerated, i.e. turns back to blue.
|
4. |
The liquid can be tested by drawing in the exhaust from the
exhaust pipe. The test liquid must turn yellow.
