Replace engine oil cooler / heat exchanger

Disconnect battery

Detach earth connection from earth terminal
|

Raise vehicle by its full height
|
| 4. |
Detach the lower engine cover and right engine splash guard
|
| 5. |
Place collecting basin underneath.
|
| 6. |
Drain coolant
| • |
Open drain bolt on radiator (1)
|
|
|
|
| 7. |
Detach front exhaust pipe with middle silencer
| • |
Detach from catalytic converter
|
|
| 8. |
Remove from exhaust pipe with middle silencer
Note: Use a second
person
Important: Prevent exhaust system
from sagging in an uncontrolled manner. To do this, exhaust system
with flexible pipe inside can be secured to underbody of vehicle
using suitable material such as wire. Even flexible tube bending of
5 - 10 degrees from intended installation position can cause damage
that may result in total failure of the flexible tube.

Suspend exhaust gas system from underbody at side
|

Disconnect wiring harness plug (2) from oil pressure switch
(1)

|
|
| 10. |
Place collecting basin underneath.
|
| 11. |
Remove oil filter
| • |
Unscrew oil filter cover (5)
|
|
| 12. |
Detach 2x coolant hoses from connection (1)
|
| 13. |
Remove oil filter housing with heat exchanger
| • |
Detach heat exchanger from oil filter housing
| – |
Unscrew 4x bolts (2) and (4)
|
|
| • |
Detach oil filter housing from cylinder block
|
| • |
Remove heat exchanger with oil filter housing
|
|
|
|
Install

Install oil filter housing with heat exchanger
| • |
Insert heat exchanger with oil filter housing
|
| • |
Attach oil filter housing to cylinder block
| – |
Tighten 3x bolt (M10) 50 Nm
Note: Clean thread
before re-using and insert bolt with locking compound (red). The
maximum installation time including torque check is 10 minutes.

Attach heat exchanger to oil filter housing
| – |
Tighten 4x bolt (M8) 25 Nm
|
|
|
| 16. |
Attach 2x coolant hoses to connections
|
| 17. |
Install oil filter
| • |
Tighten oil filter cover 25 Nm
|
|
| 18. |
Connect oil pressure switch wiring harness plug
|
| 19. |
Attach front exhaust pipe with middle silencer
Note: Use a second
person
| • |
Suspend exhaust system from underbody
|
Important: Prevent exhaust system

Attach 4x damper rings
|
|
| 20. |
Attach front exhaust pipe with middle silencer
| • |
Attach to catalytic converter
|
|
| 21. |
Install lower engine cover and right engine splash guard
|
| 22. |
Lower vehicle by its full height
|
| 23. |
Connect battery
| • |
Attach ground connection to ground terminal
|
|
| 24. |
Top up coolant or ensure correct quantity is present.
|
| 25. |
Check and correct engine oil level
|
| 26. |
Program volatile memories
|
|
