Piston with Con-rod, Remove and Install > < Replacing one piston / con-rod

Replace one piston/con-rod

  Remove

Important:   The piston pin must not be pushed out. If the piston, the piston pin or the con-rod is defective, all of the above-mentioned parts must be replaced.
1.   Remove piston with con-rod (1) LUREF_1.gif

  Install

2.   Coat con-rod eye and upper part of con-rod shaft with thermocolour pencil. The green colouring turns black when the required assembly temperature is reached. The coloured mark (arrow) is not permitted to discolour over its entire length, but only up to the start of the con-rod shaft. Heat new con-rod at upper con-rod eye with heater plate. Assembly temperature: 280°C to max. 320°C.
3.   Installation position: Bead (arrow) on con-rod points to flattened area (arrow) of piston pin eye.
Note:   Firmly seated piston pin cannot be pressed further. Perform assembly quickly.

4.   Con-rod (1), piston pin, piston (2).
5.   Slide new piston pin to stop in piston with guide drift.
6.   Install piston with con-rod LUREF_1.gif
