Con-rod Bearing Play, Check (with Plastigage) > < Crankshaft, Remove and Install

Con-rod Bearing, Replace

  Remove

1.   Remove oil pan
2.   Mark order of con-rod bearing caps (2)
3.   Remove con-rod bearing caps from con-rods
Note:   The mating surfaces of the con-rods and con-rod bearing caps form an individual fit and should never be swapped over or damaged. To avoid damage, do not put the con-rods and con-rod bearing caps down on the mating surfaces.
•   Note installation position, bead (arrow) on the con-rod bearing cap points towards the transmission side
•   Unscrew 8x bolts

4.   Clean and check all the components, replace if necessary

  Install

5.   Insert new con-rod bearing shells
•   Coat with engine oil
6.   Attach con-rod bearing caps to con-rods
Note:   Note installation position, bead on the con-rod bearing cap points towards the transmission side
•   Tighten 8x bolt 13 Nm + 60° + 15°
Use new bolts
Important:   Only use screws of size M6.5

7.   Install oil pan
