Check: Short to Voltage of Signal Circuit

  • Ignition OFF
  • Disconnect wiring harness connector from:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    (Wiring Harness Connector XC97 )
  • Ignition ON
  • Measure voltage between the following terminals:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 73 (XC97)
    &
    Ground

less than 0.3 V

Check: Short to Ground of Signal Circuit

  • Ignition OFF
  • Measure resistance between the following terminals:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 73 (XC97)
    &
    Ground

greater than 500 kOhm

Resistance Measurement Current Value: kOhm
Yes: No:

Check: Short Circuit in Wiring Harness

  • Disconnect wiring harness connector from:
    L2A Injection Valve - Cylinder 1
  • Measure resistance between the following terminals:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 73 (XC97)
    &
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 74 (XC97)

greater than 500 kOhm

Resistance Measurement Current Value: kOhm

Check: Interruption of Signal Circuit

  • Measure resistance between the following terminals:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 73 (XC97)
    &
    L2A Injection Valve - Cylinder 1
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) wiring colour RDBK

Note:

Cause Of Fault

E001 Result: Defective Component
  • Defective component:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine

Important:

Reset the concerned control unit with the diagnostic tester before replacing it. In order to do that, call up the "RESET" function from the PROGRAMMING menu of the current system on the diagnostic tester.

E002 Result: Defective Component
  • Mechanically defective component:
    L2A Injection Valve - Cylinder 1
    or
    Connecting lines

Important:

After replacing the following component the programming function for the replacement of the corresponding component has to be performed by using the diagnostic tester:

L2A Injection Valve - Cylinder 1

E003 Result: Defective Component
  • Defective component:
    L2A Injection Valve - Cylinder 1
