Check: Interruption of Voltage Supply Circuit

  • Ignition OFF
  • All consumers turned off
  • Disconnect wiring harness connector from:
    A40 Ignition Coil - Direct Ignition
  • Ignition ON
  • Measure voltage between the following terminals:
    A40 Ignition Coil - Direct Ignition
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 2
    &
    Ground

greater than 11 V

  • Check the following component for proper operation:
    Engine-compression
    Fuel pressure
    Fuel pipes and fuel filter
    Plugging, leakage, air or water in fuel system
    Spark plugs
    Spark plug connectors
    Check intake system/charge air hoses for leaks (secondary air, porosity and blockages)
    Tightness of the line connections
    Check vacuum hoses for splits, kinks, leaks and proper connections.
    Perform visual check of all exhaust related components for completeness, leakage and damage.
    Check the exhaust system for leakage, installation and the condition of the rubber suspension.

  • Repair the concerned circuit/component.
E003 Result: Defective Component

    A84 Control Unit - Engine

Important:

Reset the concerned control unit with the diagnostic tester before replacing it. In order to do that, call up the "RESET" function from the PROGRAMMING menu of the current system on the diagnostic tester.
