T001

Check: Interruption of Voltage Supply Circuit

  • Ignition OFF
  • Disconnect wiring harness connector from:
    B28 Sensor - Camshaft
  • Ignition ON
  • Measure voltage between the following terminals:
  • B28 Sensor - Camshaft
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 3
    &
    Ground

Check: Short to Voltage/Interruption of Ground Circuit

  • Measure voltage between the following terminals:
    B28 Sensor - Camshaft
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 3
    &
    B28 Sensor - Camshaft
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 2

Note:

During the model year 2007 the wiring harness connector terminal 1 of the component B28 changes to terminal 2 (refer to wiring schematic diagram).

  • Measure voltage between the following terminals:

During the model year 2007 the wiring harness connector terminal 2 of the component B28 changes to terminal 1 (refer to wiring schematic diagram).

    (intermittent problems, missing teeth, wrong reference point, incorrect gap position, etc.)

Check: Short to Voltage/Ground/Interruption of Signal Circuit

  • Measure voltage between the following terminals:
    B28 Sensor - Camshaft
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 1
    &
    Ground

Note:

During the model year 2007 the wiring harness connector terminal 2 of the component B28 changes to terminal 1 (refer to wiring schematic diagram).

  • Ignition OFF
  • Remove electrical component from socket:
    K12_X125 Relay - Radiator Fan
  • Disconnect wiring harness connector from:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    (Wiring Harness Connector XC7 )
  • Measure resistance between the following terminals:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 4 (XC7)
    &
    B28 Sensor - Camshaft
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 1

Note:

During the model year 2007 the wiring harness connector terminal 2 of the component B28 changes to terminal 1 (refer to wiring schematic diagram).

  • Measure resistance between the following terminals:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 21 (XC7)
    &
    B28 Sensor - Camshaft
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 2

Note:

During the model year 2007 the wiring harness connector terminal 1 of the component B28 changes to terminal 2 (refer to wiring schematic diagram).

  • Defective component:
    B28 Sensor - Camshaft
    or
    A84 Control Unit - Engine

Note:

The replacement of the components must be done in the listed order.

The system must be checked for proper operation after every replacement.

Important:

Reset the concerned control unit with the diagnostic tester before replacing it. In order to do that, call up the "RESET" function from the PROGRAMMING menu of the current system on the diagnostic tester.

E002 Result: Mechanical Fault
  • Repair the concerned circuit/component.
E003 Result: Short to Voltage
  • Short circuit to voltage between:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 4 (XC7)
    &
    B28 Sensor - Camshaft
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 1

or

  • Defective component:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine

Important:

During the model year 2007 the wiring harness connector terminal 2 of the component B28 changes to terminal 1 (refer to wiring schematic diagram).

Reset the concerned control unit with the diagnostic tester before replacing it. In order to do that, call up the "RESET" function from the PROGRAMMING menu of the current system on the diagnostic tester.

Important:
