Test

Work Order Description

Nominal Value

T001

Check: Interruption of Signal Circuit

  • Ignition OFF
  • All consumers turned off
  • Disconnect wiring harness connector from:
    L2C Injection Valve - Cylinder 3
  • Remove electrical component from socket:
    K10_X125 Relay - Fuel Pump
  • Connect fused jumper wire to:
    K10_X125 Relay - Fuel Pump
    Socket Terminal 87
    &
    Battery voltage
  • Measure voltage between the following terminals:
    L2C Injection Valve - Cylinder 3
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 1
    &
    Ground

greater than 11 V

Voltage Measurement Current Value: V
Yes: No:
T002

Check: Short to Voltage of Signal Circuit

  • Remove fused jumper wire
  • Disconnect wiring harness connector from:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
  • Ignition ON
  • Measure voltage between the following terminals:
    L2C Injection Valve - Cylinder 3
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 2
    &
    Ground

less than 0.3 V

Voltage Measurement Current Value: V
Yes: No:

Check: Short to Ground of Signal Circuit

  • Ignition OFF
  • Measure resistance between the following terminals:
    L2C Injection Valve - Cylinder 3
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 2
    &
    Ground

greater than 500 kOhm

Resistance Measurement Current Value: kOhm
Yes: No:
T004

Check: Component

  • Measure resistance between the following terminals:
    L2C Injection Valve - Cylinder 3
    Wiring harness connector (component side) terminal 1
    &
    L2C Injection Valve - Cylinder 3
    Wiring harness connector (component side) terminal 2

12 ... 16 Ohm

Resistance Measurement Current Value: Ohm

E001 Result: Interruption
  • Circuit interruption between:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 2 (XC99)
    &
    L2C Injection Valve - Cylinder 3
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 2

or

  • Defective component:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine

Important:

Reset the concerned control unit with the diagnostic tester before replacing it. In order to do that, call up the "RESET" function from the PROGRAMMING menu of the current system on the diagnostic tester.

E002 Result: Defective Component
  • Defective component:
    L2C Injection Valve - Cylinder 3
E003 Result: Short to Ground
  • Short circuit to ground between:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 2 (XC99)
    &
    L2C Injection Valve - Cylinder 3
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 2
E004 Result: Short to Voltage
  • Short circuit to voltage between:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 2 (XC99)
    &
    L2C Injection Valve - Cylinder 3
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 2
E005 Result: Interruption
  • Circuit interruption between:
    X125 Underhood Electronic Module
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 32 (XE3)
    &
    L2C Injection Valve - Cylinder 3
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 1

or

  • Defective component:
    X125 Underhood Electronic Module

Important:

Reset the concerned control unit with the diagnostic tester before replacing it. In order to do that, call up the "RESET" function from the PROGRAMMING menu of the current system on the diagnostic tester.
