    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 62 (XC9)
    &
    Ground

less than 0.3 V

  • Disconnect each of the following components/control units consecutively from the wiring harness and repeat the measurement each time:
    B65 Sensor - Knock Control

  • Defective component:

Important:

Reset the concerned control unit with the diagnostic tester before replacing it. In order to do that, call up the "RESET" function from the PROGRAMMING menu of the current system on the diagnostic tester.
E002 Result: Short to Ground
  • Short circuit to ground between:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 35 (XC10)
    &
    X125 Underhood Electronic Module
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 36 (XE3)

or

  • Defective component:
    X125 Underhood Electronic Module

Important:

Reset the concerned control unit with the diagnostic tester before replacing it. In order to do that, call up the "RESET" function from the PROGRAMMING menu of the current system on the diagnostic tester.
E003 Result: Short to Ground

Note:

At the beginning of the model year 2005 the ground lead of the component B64, B28 (terminal E, 2) is connected to terminal 29 (XC9) of the control unit A84. During the model year 2005 this ground lead changes to the terminal 36 (XC9) at the control unit. The ground lead of the component A111 stays at terminal 29 (XC9) of the control unit.
