Work Order Description

Nominal Value
T001

Check: Interruption of Voltage Supply Circuit
  • Ignition OFF
  • Disconnect wiring harness connector from:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    (Wiring Harness Connector XC10 )
  • Connect fused jumper wire to:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 16 (XC10)
    &
    Ground
  • Measure voltage between the following terminals:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 2, 14, 19 (XC10)
    &
    Ground

greater than 11 V
Voltage Measurement Current Value: V
Yes: No:
T002

Check: Interruption of Voltage Supply Circuit
  • Remove all fused jumper wires
  • Ignition OFF
  • Connect wiring harness connector to:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    (Wiring Harness Connector XC10 )
  • Disconnect wiring harness connector from:
    Y56 Solenoid Valve - Exhaust Gas Recirculation
  • Ignition ON
  • Measure voltage between the following terminals:
    Y56 Solenoid Valve - Exhaust Gas Recirculation
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal E
    &
    Ground

greater than 11 V
Voltage Measurement Current Value: V
Yes: No:
T003

Check: Short to Voltage/Ground/Interruption of Voltage Supply
  • Ignition OFF
  • Disconnect wiring harness connector from:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    (Wiring Harness Connector XC9 )
  • Connect test light to:
    Y56 Solenoid Valve - Exhaust Gas Recirculation
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal E
    &
    Y56 Solenoid Valve - Exhaust Gas Recirculation
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal A
  • Connect fused jumper wire to:
  • Ground the following terminal briefly several times:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 21 (XC9)

Test light flashes?
Yes: No:
T004

Check: Short to Voltage/Ground/Interruption of Voltage Supply
  • Remove all fused jumper wires
  • Remove test light
  • Connect wiring harness connector to:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    (Wiring Harness Connector XC9 )
  • Ignition ON
  • Measure voltage between the following terminals:
    Y56 Solenoid Valve - Exhaust Gas Recirculation
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal D
    &
    Ground

4.8 ... 5.2 V

  • Measure voltage between:
    Y56 Solenoid Valve - Exhaust Gas Recirculation

    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal C

    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal C
    &
    Ground

greater than 500 kOhm

E001 Result: Defective Component
  • Defective component:
    Y56 Solenoid Valve - Exhaust Gas Recirculation
E002 Result: Defective Component
  • Defective component:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine

Important:

Reset the concerned control unit with the diagnostic tester before replacing it. In order to do that, call up the "RESET" function from the PROGRAMMING menu of the current system on the diagnostic tester.
E003 Result: Short to Voltage
  • Short circuit to voltage between:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 28 (XC9)
    &
    Y56 Solenoid Valve - Exhaust Gas Recirculation
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal B

or

  • Defective component:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine

Important:

Reset the concerned control unit with the diagnostic tester before replacing it. In order to do that, call up the "RESET" function from the PROGRAMMING menu of the current system on the diagnostic tester.
E004 Result: Short to Ground/Interruption
  • Short circuit to ground/interruption of circuit between:

or

    A84 Control Unit - Engine

Important:

    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal C
    &
    Concerned terminals of all wiring harness connectors, which are connected with the corresponding lead.
E007 Result: Short to Ground/Interruption
  • Circuit interruption between:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 30 (XC9)
    &
    Y56 Solenoid Valve - Exhaust Gas Recirculation
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal D
E008 Result: Short to Voltage/Ground/Interruption

Test light permanently ON:

  • Short circuit to ground between:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 21 (XC9)
    &
    Y56 Solenoid Valve - Exhaust Gas Recirculation
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal A

or

Test light permanently OFF:

  • Short circuit to voltage/interruption of circuit between:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 21 (XC9)
    &
    Y56 Solenoid Valve - Exhaust Gas Recirculation
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal A
E009 Result: Interruption
  • Circuit interruption between:
    X125 Underhood Electronic Module
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 29 (XE3)
    &
    Y56 Solenoid Valve - Exhaust Gas Recirculation
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal E
E010 Result: Interruption
  • Circuit interruption between:
    X125 Underhood Electronic Module
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 28 (XE3)
    &
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 2, 14, 19 (XC10)
