Valve Body, Remove and Install (AF40) (Transmission Installed)

  Remove

2.   Disconnect solenoid valve wiring harness •   Disconnect 8 solenoid valve wiring harness plugs (arrows) •   Disconnect 2 wiring harness plugs for speed sensors (3) and (4) •   Detach wiring harness from 2 retaining clamps (1) and (2)

3.   Detach wiring harness plug of speed sensors (1) •   Remove wiring harness plug from 2 retainers

4.   Detach temperature sensor (2) •   Unscrew bolt (3) •   Remove retaining plate (1)

5.   Move aside and secure wiring harness of solenoid valves (1) and wiring harness of speed sensors (2) (arrows) Note:   Do not damage wiring harness

6.   Remove valve body cover (2) •   Unscrew 2x bolt (3) •   Remove gasket (1)

7.   Release valve body •   Slacken 6 bolts (arrows) in the specified sequence •   Unscrew 6 bolts

8.   Unhook connecting rod (1) 9.   Remove valve body.

  Install

10.   Clean sealing surface (1) Note:   Completely remove sealing compound and oil residue. Do not damage the sealing surface. 11.   Clean 11 threads (arrows)

12.   Insert valve body •   Attach connecting rod (1)

13.   Attach valve body •   Loosely screw in 6 bolts Note:   Use new bolts. Do not tighten the 6 bolts yet.

14.   Install cover (2) •   Loosely screw in 2 bolts (3) Note:   Use new bolts and a new seal (1). Do not tighten the 2 bolts yet.

15.   Fasten valve body •   Tighten 8x bolt (arrows) in the order stated 10 Nm

16.   Attach retaining clamp (2) •   Coat temperature sensor O-ring with ATF •   Insert retaining plate (1) •   Tighten bolt (3) 10 Nm

17.   Attach wiring harness plug of speed sensors (1) •   Insert wiring harness plug in 2 retainers

18.   Fasten wiring harness plug of solenoid valves •   Attach wiring harness in 2 retaining clamps (1) and (2) •   Connect 2 wiring harness plugs for speed sensors (3) and (4) •   Connect 8 wiring harness plugs for solenoid valves (arrows)
