Axle Shaft Seal Rings and O-Ring in Left Sealing
Flange, Replace (M20/M20 MTA/M32)
 Remove
| 1. |
Detach lower engine cover
Note: If present.
|
| 2. |
Remove axle shaft affected from transmission 
Note: Place collecting
pan underneath - transmission fluid will escape
Axle shaft remains in wheel hub.

| 3. |
Remove intermediate shaft
Note: Only if right
axle shaft seal ring is affected and right intermediate shaft is
fitted.

| 4. |
Only right side:
| • |
Remove axle shaft seal ring
| – |
remove with KM-J-7004 (2) and KM-586 (1)
|
|
|
|
| 5. |
Only left side:
| • |
Remove sealing flange (1)
|
|
| 6. |
Remove axle shaft seal ring
| • |
Place sealing flange on KM-466-2
(5)
|
| • |
Press axle shaft seal ring out with KM-523-1 (3) and KM-523-3
(4)
|
|
|
|
| 7. |
Remove O-ring (2)
| • |
Use a small screwdriver to take the O-ring out of the sealing
flange (1)
|
|
|
|
Install
| 8. |
Fit O-ring (2)
| • |
Coat O-ring with transmission fluid and apply to the sealing
flange (1)
|
|
|
|
| 9. |
Install axle shaft seal ring, right side:
| • |
Coat axle shaft seal ring with transmission fluid
| – |
Drive axle shaft seal ring flush into transmission with KM-519 (1)
|
|
|
|
|
| 10. |
Install axle shaft seal ring, left side:
| • |
Coat axle shaft seal ring with transmission fluid
|
| • |
Press axle shaft seal ring into sealing flange with KM-519 (1)
|
|
| 11. |
Install sealing flange (2)
| • |
Tighten 4x bolt (3) 20 Nm +
45°
|
|
|
|
| 12. |
Only right side:
| • |
Install intermediate shaft
Note: If present.
|
|
| 13. |
Install axle shaft affected in the transmission
|
| 14. |
Check transmission fluid level
|
| 15. |
Attach lower engine cover
Note: If present.
