Straight Ahead Position, Check/Adjust

Note:   Check straight-ahead position in all cases following service work on steering gear. The straight-ahead position is attained when boots sit tension-free over the length (I) between tie rod grooves and steering housing and the wheels are in the straight-ahead position.

Steering gear shaft can be inserted in the intermediate shaft with a 360° offset. This is indicated by the boot being extended or compressed with the steering wheel in straight-ahead position and the wheels not being in the straight-ahead position.
