Auxiliary Water Pump Bracket Replacement - 1.3L Diesel LSF

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the engine control module. Refer to Engine Control Module Replacement .
  2. Remove the battery tray. Refer to Battery Tray Replacement .

  3. Unclip the 2 alternator and starter wiring harness clips (2) from the auxiliary water pump bracket (1).
  4. Hang the alternator and starter wiring harness aside.
  5. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  6. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  7. If equipped remove the engine shield. Refer to Engine Shield Replacement .
  8. If equipped remove the front compartment splash shield. Refer to Front Compartment Splash Shield Replacement .
  9. If equipped remove the front compartment insulator. Refer to Front Compartment Insulator Replacement .

  10. Disconnect the auxiliary water pump wiring harness plug (3) from the auxiliary water pump (6).
  11. Remove the heater outlet hose clamp (5) and the heater outlet hose (4).
  12. Remove the auxiliary water pump outlet hose clamp (1) and the auxiliary water pump outlet hose (2).

  13. Remove the auxiliary water pump bracket bolt (1) and the lower transmission bolt (3).
  14. Remove the auxiliary water pump bracket (2) along with the auxiliary water pump (4).

  15. Remove the 3 auxiliary water pump bolts (3).
  16. Remove the auxiliary water pump (2) from the auxiliary water pump bracket (1).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the auxiliary water pump (2) to the auxiliary water pump bracket (1).

    2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  2. Install and tighten the 3 auxiliary water pump bolts (3).

  3. Install the auxiliary water pump bracket (2) along with the auxiliary water pump (4).
  4. Install the auxiliary water pump bracket bolt (1) and tighten to 23 N·m (17 lb ft) .
  5. Install the lower transmission bolt (3) and tighten to 60 N·m (44 lb ft) .

  6. Install the auxiliary water pump outlet hose (2) with the auxiliary water pump outlet hose clamp (1).
  7. Install the heater outlet hose (4) with the heater outlet hose clamp (5).
  8. Connect the auxiliary water pump wiring harness plug (3) to the auxiliary water pump (6).
  9. If equipped install the front compartment insulator. Refer to Front Compartment Insulator Replacement .
  10. If equipped install the front compartment splash shield. Refer to Front Compartment Splash Shield Replacement .
  11. If equipped install the engine shield. Refer to Engine Shield Replacement .
  12. Lower the vehicle.

  13. Position the alternator and starter wiring harness.
  14. Clip the 2 alternator and starter wiring harness clips (2) into the auxiliary water pump bracket (1).
  15. Install the battery tray. Refer to Battery Tray Replacement .
  16. Install the engine control module. Refer to Engine Control Module Replacement .
  17. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
