Exhaust Manifold Replacement (2.0L Diesel LBQ, LBR, LBS and
LBX)
Removal Procedure

Warning:
In order to avoid being burned, do not service
the exhaust system while it is still hot. Service the system when
it is cool. |
|
Warning:
Always wear protective goggles and gloves when
removing exhaust parts as falling rust and sharp edges from worn
exhaust components could result in serious personal injury.

Remove and DISCARD the 9
exhaust manifold nuts (1). |
5. |
Remove the 9 exhaust manifold
heat shield spacer (2). |
6. |
Remove the exhaust manifold
(3). |
7. |
Remove the exhaust manifold
gasket (4). |
Installation Procedure
1. |
Inspect the exhaust manifold
bolt studs for tight fit. |
2. |
Inspect the exhaust manifold
bolt stud threads. Rework if necessary. |
3. |
Clean sealing surfaces. Remove
all remains of old gasket material. |
4. |
Install a NEW exhaust manifold
gasket (4). |
5. |
Install the exhaust manifold
(3). |
6. |
Install the 9 exhaust manifold
heat shield spacer (2). |

Note: DO NOT re-use
the exhaust manifold nuts.
|
7. |
Install 9 NEW exhaust manifold
nuts (1). |
8. |
Tighten the 9 exhaust manifold
nuts in a sequence as shown to 20 N·m (15 lb
ft) . |
9. |
Repeat the tightening
procedure to ensure a proper fastening of the exhaust manifold
nuts. |
