Oil Pressure Diagnosis and Testing

Special Tools

•  EN-498-B   Oil Pressure Gauge
•  EN-232   Adapter Oil Pressure Check

For equivalent regional tools, refer to Special Tools .

Removal Procedure

1. Open the hood.
2. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
3. Position the EN- 498-B   gauge .

4. Lay the connecting hose (2) at the bulkhead to bottom.
5. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
6. Place a drain pan underneath.
7. Remove the engine oil pressure indicator switch. Refer to Engine Oil Pressure Indicator Switch Replacement .

8. Install the EN-232   adapter (1) at the thread of the engine oil pressure indicator switch connection (2).
9. Install the EN-232   adapter at the EN-498-B   gauge connecting hose.
10. Lower the vehicle.
11. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
12. Start the engine.
13. Check oil pressure. At idling speed, the oil pressure must be at least 127 kPa (1,27 bar) and the oil temperature must be 80°C (170°F) or more.

Measurement Procedure

1. Start the engine.
2. Check oil pressure. At idling speed, the oil pressure must be at least 127 kPa (1,27 bar) and the oil temperature must be 80°C (170°F) or more.
3. Switch off the engine.

Installation Procedure

1. Raise the vehicle.
2. Remove the EN-232   adapter .

Note:  Remove the starter to clear the way for the torque wrench.
3. Remove the starter. Refer to Starter Replacement .
4. Install the engine oil pressure indicator switch. Refer to Engine Oil Pressure Indicator Switch Replacement .
5. Install the starter. Refer to Starter Replacement .
6. Lower the vehicle.
7. Remove the EN-498-B   gauge .
8. Check the engine oil level.
9. Close the hood.
