1. |
Clean the sealing
surfaces. |

Note: Ensure that the
cylinder head and the cylinder block sealing surfaces are clear of
oil, grease and old gasket material.
|
2. |
Inspect the flatness of
cylinder head and cylinder block sealing surfaces. |
3. |
Install EN-301
measurement bridge (2) in compound with GE-571-B
dial (1) . |
|
Note: The largest
measured piston overhang value is determining for the choice of the
cylinder head gasket.
|
4. |
Measure the piston overhang
and compare with the identification on the cylinder head gasket
(1). |

Piston overhang 0.230
mm - 0.296 mm (0.0091 in - 0.0117 in) , choose cylinder
head gasket with identification A . |
|
4.2 |
Piston overhang 0.297
mm - 0.362 mm (0.0117 in - 0.0142 in) , choose cylinder
head gasket with identification B . |
|
4.3 |
Piston overhang 0.363
mm - 0.429 mm (0.0143 in - 0.0169 in) , choose cylinder
head gasket with identification C . |
|
Note: Mind the guide
sleeves.
|
5. |
Install a NEW cylinder head
gasket (3). |
6. |
Install the cylinder head
(2). |
7. |
Install 10 NEW cylinder head
bolts (1). |
8. |
Tighten the 10 cylinder head
bolts in a sequence as shown in three passes: |

First pass in sequence to
50 N·m (37 lb ft) . |

8.2 |
Second pass in sequence to an
additional 90° , using the EN-470-B
wrench . |

8.3 |
Third pass in sequence to an
additional 90° , using the EN-470-B
wrench . |
