On
vehicles up to Vehicle Ident. No. JB 513383,
nstall
as replacement only the new, laterally fixable roof frame seal in conjunction
with new hinge pillar seals.
Remove
Remove
present roof frame seal.
Note size of new part.
Clean
roof frame.

|
Install
Lay
on bore template (from fastening parts kit) level with upper fastening hole
for roof luggage carrier.
Illustration
shows template on left side of vehicle.
Lay
on template on right side analogously.
Tear
and punch one hole each at the left and right A pillars.

|
|
|
|
|
|
Using
a slender, rounded off flattening iron, lightly tap surface surrounding the
bore hole, so as to produce a form (illus. D 2023) by means of which the
required position of the spacing sleeves/screws can be attained.

Drill
both 6.8 mm/0.27 in. holes and protect against corrosion.
Insert
rivet nuts from fastening parts kit and depress using Rivet Pliers MKM-594.

Screw
screws from fastening parts kit into rivet nuts.
Screws
must be seen from the front and stand at an angle of 10 to 12° with the
screen frame.
X = 10 to 12°
|
|
|
At the same time, the
screws, as seen from the side, must be parallel to the A pillar.
|
|
|
Check
spacing between rivet nuts.
A
= 1062 · 2 mm (41.81 · 0.079 in.)
Important: To avoid loose, turning rivet nuts, do
not correct dimension A and positions of rivet nuts by bending the screwed in
screws, but align surface using flattening iron.
Do not damage rivet head.
Patch up damaged paint in vehicle
colour.

Press
spacing sleeves from fastening parts kit into openings of rubber seal.
Install
rubber seal and screw tight.

Note:
Seal
off rubber seal of roof frame along its entire length using Adhesive Sealing
Compound (Catalogue No. 15 05 102 - 90 140 944).

Replace
connecting caps at front door frame by new parts from installation kit. To do
this, shorten door frame by 6 mm/0.24 in. using metal saw.
X = 6 mm/0.24 in.
Patch
up cut surfaces in vehicle colour.
