Astra
Braking in the ABS control range is indicated to the driver by a pulsing in the brake pedal together with return pump noise, and warns the driver that he should suit his diving speed to the present driving conditions.
If the ABS develops a defect, the ABS telltale illuminates, but the conventional brake system remains fully operational.
The vehicle should then be checked and repaired in an Authorized Opel Workshop.
Maintenance
The Opel ABS-2E is maintenance-free and is not subject to the Opel Inspection System.
Before carrying out operations on vehicles with ABS, observe the following:
- When welding operations are carried out, control units must be removed.
- At temperatures above +80 °C/ +176 °F (drying oven), control units must be removed.
- After operations on the brake system, it should be bled and a pressure check carried out. - All connections should be checked for leaks. - Do not use the quick-charger for starting. - Ensure that all connections in the wiring harness are correctly seated. - Wiring harness multiple plug should never be disconnected from or connected to the electronic control unit when the ignition is on.
