Front Seat Backrest Heating Mat, Remove and Install  

  Remove, Disconnect   

Fold front seat backrest forwards or move to furthest forward position by turning handwheel.  

Remove detent lever knob (1) and cover (2) from backrest.   Detach upholstery for backrest at crossbar (3).

Pull upholstery upwards until heating mat is accessible.   Vehicles with sport seats: detach only centre part of backrest upholstery.   Fold back seat to normal position.

  Remove, Disconnect   

Disconnect wiring harness plug (1) from front seat heating element and loosen heating mat (2) carefully from front seat backrest.     Important!    Cover front seat to avoid soiling with adhesive!     Install, Connect    Place heating mat on backrest and mark installation position.

Coat underside of heating element as well as backrest with contact adhesive (commercially available) in the shaded area (see illus.).   Allow adhesive to dry, align heating mat on front seat backrest and press on in correct position.

  Install, Connect   

Pull upholstery cover back onto backrest. Bring front seat backrest to forward position and attach cover below on crossbar (1).   Connect wiring harness plug to front seat cushion and stick under upholstery cover on the side (2).   Install cover and detent lever knob (3).
