Toe variation

The toe variation (3) is the angle by which the lock of the inside cornering wheel (2) exceeds that of the external cornering wheel (1) when the steering is turned. This effect is initiated by the steering trapeze.

The toe variation of the outer wheel in question is measured when the internal cornering wheel is locked at an angle of 20 ° (2), relative to the axis of symmetry (4).

Object Number: 2400748 Size: DEFAULT

The toe variation of the two front wheels must be identical within the specified tolerance for Opel/Vauxhall vehicles.

The measurement of this angle provides information on the status of the steering trapeze (tie-rod and steering arm).

Effects of incorrect measurement angles

  • increased tyre wear
  • vehicle breaks away on cornering
  • poor steering wheel return on great steering lock
