Oxygen sensor behind Catalic Converter, Motronic 7.6.1 and Z18XE MY2004

 

Objective:

Checking operation of the Oxygen sensor.

Measurement:

Plot of signal voltage of Oxygen sensor behind the Catalytic Converter.

Preparation:

Engine oil temperature greater than 80°C . Switch off the engine and ignition.

Connections:

INPUT A

COM/TRIGGER

INPUT B

Connect the red measurement lead with the blue filter adapter to pin 4 of the plug connector for the Oxygen sensor, connect the black ground lead to pin 3 (Z18XE: 2).

 

 


Procedure Tech 31:

1. Download Reference curve.
2. Start the engine and allow it to idle.

Reference Curve:

There will be no or very little change in the voltage signal of the Oxygen Sensor, due to the fact that this Oxygen Sensor is located behind the Catalytic Converter. If it does change, it can indicate that the Catalytic Converter is not functioning correctly. See the checking procedure for further information.

Procedure Tech 32:

1. Download Setup file (the Tech 32 uses only Setup files, no reference curves).
2. Start the engine and allow it to idle.
