Battery / Starter, Petrol (Current Measurement) > < Spark plugs - Z 10 XEP and Z 14 XEP engine

Air Mass Meter, 4 Cylinder Petrol

 

Note:   This operation does not apply to Z18XE, Z20NET, Y22XE, Z22XE engines and also not to engines with Simtec 56.6 or Simtec 71 engine management systems.

Objective:

Operational check of the air mass meter.

Measurement:

Plot of voltage at the signal output of the air mass meter.

Preparation:

Switch off the engine and ignition.

Connections:

INPUT A

COM/TRIGGER

INPUT B

Connect red measurement lead to pin 5 of the plug connector on the air mass meter. Connect the black ground lead to pin 3.

 

 


Procedure Tech 31:

1. Download Reference curve.
2. Start engine and allow it to idle.
3. Press the accelerator pedal once quickly down to the limit stop and immediately release it again. The measurement should not take longer than one second.

If the measured signal plot does not approximately correspond with the reference curve after repeated testing, check the air mass meter system as described in the checking procedure.

Procedure Tech 32:

1. Download Setup file (the Tech 32 uses only Setup files, no reference curves).
2. Start engine and allow it to idle.
3. Press the accelerator pedal once quickly down to the limit stop and immediately release it again. The measurement should not take longer than one second.
