Coolant Temperature Sensor > < J980500 Oxygen Sensor for Catalytic Converter Control, Replace (Z 14 XE, Z 16 YNG with AC, RHD)

J745500 remove and install engine control unit (Z 14 XE, Z 16 YNG with AC, RHD)

Important:   Before removing the engine control unit: reset using TECH2.

1. When replacing the engine control unit

  • Establish communication
    • Connect TECH2

Note:   Reset using TECH2 - see operation "Operations to be performed with TECH 2 when replacing control units" in group "N".

2. Open bonnet

Important:   On vehicles as of model year 04 with ESP - the steering angle sensor loses its basic adjustment each time the battery is disconnected. It must be recalibrated.

3. Disconnect battery

  • Detach ground cable

4. Remove engine cover

  • Unscrew oil filler pipe cap
  • Remove 2 bolts
  • Screw on oil filler pipe cap

5. Remove engine control unit

  • Remove wiring harness plug
    • Oxygen sensor, mixture regulating, heated (1), ignition module (3), engine control unit (4), combination plug (5)
  • Remove ground cable (2)
  • Remove 4 bolts

6. Install engine control unit

Object Number: 2411221  Size: DEFAULT

  • Install 4 bolts (8 Nm / 6 lbf. ft.)
  • Attach 5 wiring harness plugs
  • Connect ground cable.

7. Install engine cover

  • Unscrew oil filler pipe cap
  • Tighten bolts (8 Nm / 6 lbf. ft.)
  • Screw on oil filler pipe cap

8. Connect battery

9. Calibrate steering angle sensor

  • Switch on ignition

Note:   Rotate the steering wheel one time from its right-hand to its left-hand stop.

10. When replacing the engine control unit

  • Reprogram engine control unit

The engine control units delivered to Service have been programmed for ECOService-Flex.

ECOService-Flex:

up to 2 years/30,000 km (up to max. 34,000 km possible) Petrol

 

Exception: ECOService:

1 year/30,000 km

Engine control unit (ECM) must be replaced.

- Service Booklet

– ECM/instrument assembly can still be read out

– Customer records, invoices available

Fill out and affix sticker (2 years/30,000 km, diesel engine)

Oil change necessary

11. When replacing the engine control unit

  • Fill out the service sticker

13. Close bonnet
