Oxygen Sensor > < J794400 Crankshaft Sensor, Replace (Z 18 XE, with Air Conditioning, LHD)

J795100 Knock Sensor, Replace (Z 18 XE, with Air Conditioning, LHD)

  Remove

1.   Open bonnet
2.   Disconnect battery
Note:   In vehicles from model year 04 onwards with ESP - the steering angle sensor loses its basic adjustment each time the battery is disconnected and must be recalibrated.
•   Detach ground cable
3.   Raise vehicle
4.   Remove wiring harness plug, catalytic converter control oxygen sensor (1)
5.   Remove intake manifold support
•   Unscrew 2x bolt (arrows)

6.   Detach knock sensor (2)
•   Remove bolt (1)
7.   Lower vehicle

8.   Disconnect knock sensor wiring harness plug (1).
9.   Remove knock sensor
•   Unclip knock sensor cable from coolant pipe

  Install

10.   Install knock sensor
•   Renew cable ties
•   Insert knock sensor
•   Clip on knock sensor cable
11.   Connect knock sensor wiring harness plug
12.   Raise vehicle
13.   Clean contact surface
14.   Install knock sensor
Note:   Correct tightening torque must be used.
•   Tighten bolt 20 Nm
15.   Install intake manifold support
•   To intake manifold
Tighten bolt 20 Nm
•   At cylinder block
Tighten bolt 35 Nm
16.   Connect oxygen sensor (catalytic converter control) cable harness plug.
17.   Lower vehicle
18.   Connect battery
19.   Calibrate steering angle sensor
•   Switch on ignition
•   Rotate the steering wheel one time from its right-hand to its left-hand stop.
20.   Program volatile memories
21.   Close bonnet
