Steering and chassis From MY 2004, the Corsa-C will be fitted with a revised steering knuckle, in conjunction with EPS steering. Variants with manual steering will continue to be fitted with the steering gear used up till now, which has a ratio of 24:1. From MY 2004, Corsa-C variants with EPS steering will be fitted with a steering gear with a revised ratio of 15:1 (up till now 16.2:1). The modification has improved vehicle handling and, thanks to the shorter ratio, the driver will experience a sportier feel to the steering. A reduction in steering travel was also necessary where the Z 17 DTH engine is used in conjunction with 15" wheels. This is to prevent the wheels from grinding against the wheel housing. In addition, different tie-rods were also installed on the Z 17 DTH engine variant. From MY 2004, therefore, two different tie-rods will be in use. The only difference between them is dimension X on the axial joint, as shown below. The tie-rods used up till the end of MY 2003 must not be used in service operations for vehicles from MY 2004 and are therefore not listed in the following.
