Replace side airbag (not deployed) - OPC

  Remove

1.   Disconnect battery
Note:   Observe airbag deactivation capacitor discharge time, 1 min.
2.   Remove front seat
3.   Detach adjustment handle (1) on front seat backrest
•   Unclip adjustment handle panel (2) with suitable tool
•   Unclip front seat backrest adjustment handle

4.   Detach height adjuster panel (1)
•   Unclip panel with a suitable tool
5.   Detach height adjuster (2)
•   Unscrew bolt (3) and remove lever

6.   Detach outside panelling (1)
•   Unscrew 2x bolt (2)
•   Unclip panelling

7.   Detach inside panelling
•   Unscrew bolt (arrow)
•   Unclip panelling (1)

8.   Detach front seat backrest
•   Unscrew 4x bolt (1, 2)
•   Release and unclip Bowden cable (3)

9.   Detach upholstery covering on front seat backrest all round
10.   Detach front seat backrest panelling (2) left
•   Fold up pad (1)
•   Unscrew 11x bolt (arrows)
•   Release clip (3)
•   Remove panelling

11.   Clean thread
•   Recut 11x threads
12.   Remove side airbag (1)
•   Unlatch and disconnect wiring harness plug (arrow)
•   Unscrew 2x nuts (2)

  Install

13.   Install side airbag
•   Tighten 2x nut 7 Nm
•   Connect and latch wiring harness plug
14.   Attach front seat backrest panelling left
•   Clip in panelling
•   Tighten 11x bolt
Note:   Screws must be inserted with locking compound.
15.   Fasten upholstery covering all round
16.   Attach front seat backrest to front seat
•   Tighten 4x bolt
•   Attach and clip in Bowden cable
17.   Attach panelling inside
•   Clip in panelling
•   Tighten the bolt
18.   Attach outside panelling
•   Clip in panelling
•   Tighten 2x bolts
19.   Install height adjuster
•   Insert lever
•   Tighten the bolt
20.   Install height adjuster panel
•   Clip in panel
21.   Attach adjustment handle on front seat backrest
•   Push on adjustment handle
•   Clip in adjustment handle panel
22.   Install front seat
