Manual Transmission, Remove and Install
(F13+/F17+)
 Remove

Remove front axle body
|
| 3. |
Fill brake fluid reservoir to "MAX" mark and seal with MKM-558-10 .
|
| 4. |
Disconnect pressure line (1) from connecting piece for pressure
line for central release from transmission housing
| • |
Release clamp with screwdriver and remove
|
| • |
Bend clip together a little and insert back into connecting
piece
Note: Collect escaping
brake fluid
|
|
| 5. |
Detach wiring harness plug (2) from reversing lamp switch
|
|
|
| 6. |
Release transmission at top
|
|
|
| 7. |
Attach engine bridge EN-47650 
|
| 8. |
Remove engine damping block retaining bracket
| • |
Unscrew 3x bolts (1) for engine damping block left
|
|
| 9. |
Lower engine with transmission on EN
47650 by approx. 5 cm
Note: Ensure that the
coolant hoses and wiring harnesses are not stretched.
|
|
|
| 10. |
Detach shift linkage from shift guide
|
Important: Fluid escapes. Place
collecting pan underneath and close off apertures with plug.
|
| 11. |
Remove axle shafts from transmission
Note: Axle shafts
remain in wheel hubs.

Attach axle shafts to vehicle underbody
|
|
| 12. |
Detach rear engine damping block bracket (1) from
transmission
|
| 13. |
Unscrew 2 bolts (2) for transmission housing on oil pan
|
|
|
|
| 14. |
Place transmission fixture DT-47648
on KM-904 and assemble as shown in
illustration:

Important: Pay strict attention
to manufacturer's notice for transmission fixture DT-47648 .

Attach transmission fixture DT-47648
to transmission
Note: Loosen all screw
connections of the cantilever arms and supports to the base plate
before placing them under load. Rotate the supports as far down as
possible by way of the spindles.

Place the transmission fixture DT-47648 with supports beneath the transmission
|
| • |
Tighten screw connections on the supports
|
| • |
Attach pivot arms (1) and (2) to transmission
|
| • |
Tighten the screw connections of the cantilever arms starting
from the transmission to the base plate
Note: Align the
cantilever arms so that as a little lever force as possible is
created.

|
|
| 16. |
Detach 2 lower bolts (1) and (2) for transmission from
engine
|
| 17. |
Press off transmission from engine block
Note: Ensure that
attached parts and wiring harnesses are not damaged.

Carefully lower transmission
|
|
Important: Do not damage
attaching parts when laying transmission down.
|
| 18. |
Detach transmission from DT-47648
Note: If necessary.
|
|
|
Install
Important: Pay strict attention
to manufacturer's notice for transmission holder DT-47648 .
|

Attach transmission to DT-47648
|
Important: Ensure that no cable
or bracket becomes clamped between transmission and engine. Align
shift guide.
|

Lift, align and evenly attach transmission to engine
|
| 21. |
Attach 2 lower bolts (1) and (2) for transmission to engine
60 Nm
|
|
|
| 22. |
Detach DT-47648 from transmission
|
| 23. |
Attach 2 transmission bolts to oil pan (2) 40 Nm
|
| 24. |
Attach rear engine damping block bracket (1) to
transmission
| • |
Use new bolts 80 Nm + 45° –
60°
|
|
|
|
| 25. |
Attach new retaining ring to axle shaft
|
| 26. |
Attach axle shafts to transmission
| • |
Detach axle shafts from vehicle underbody
|
|
| 27. |
Lift engine with EN 47650 until
installation position is reached
Note: Ensure that there
is some clearance between the left engine damping block and the
engine damping block bracket.
|
| 28. |
Attach left engine damping block retaining bracket
| • |
Tighten 3x bolt (1) 60 Nm
|
|
|
|
| 29. |
Detach engine bridge EN-47650
|
| 30. |
Install front axle body
|
| 31. |
Fasten transmission at the top
| • |
Tighten 3 bolts for the transmission at the top 60 Nm
|
|
| 32. |
Attach pressure line (1) to connecting piece for pressure line
for central release at clutch housing
Note: Clamp must
audibly engage.
|
| 33. |
Connect wiring harness plug (2) to reversing lamp switch
|
|
|
| 34. |
Check transmission fluid level and correct if necessary
|
| 35. |
Install battery support
|
| 36. |
Slide shift guide onto shift rod
|
| 37. |

| 38. |
Detach MKM-558-10 from brake fluid
reservoir
|
| 39. |
Vent hydraulic clutch actuation
| • |
Correct brake fluid reservoir to "MAX" mark
|
|
| 40. |
Program volatile memories
|
|
