Ribbed V-belt Tensioner, Remove and Install > < Ribbed V-belt, Remove and Install

AC Condenser Ribbed V-belt, Remove and Install

  Remove

Remove lower engine compartment cover.

Mark direction of travel of AC compressor ribbed V-belt.

Detach cover from ribbed V-belt tension roller (1). Release fastening bolt (2), release AC compressor ribbed V-belt tension via ribbed V-belt tension roller and remove.

Note:   Up to and incl. engine No. 20 018 737: Release AC compressor ribbed V-belt via ribbed V-belt tension roller in clockwise direction.

As of engine No. 20 018 738 (inclusive): Release tension anti-clockwise in ribbed V-belt for AC condenser via ribbed V-belt tension roller.

  Install

Place AC condenser ribbed V-belt on pulleys. Ensure running direction of AC compressor ribbed V-belt is correct.

Note:   When adjusting the ribbed V-belt tension roller, it must be differentiated between two versions.

I

Ribbed V-belt tension roller up to and incl. engine No. 20 018 737:

 

Tension anti-clockwise so that the ribbed V-belt tension roller moves towards the vibration damper pulley (2).

II

Ribbed V-belt tension roller up to and incl. engine No. 20 018 738:

 

Tension clockwise so that the ribbed V-belt tension roller moves towards the AC compressor pulley (3).


  Adjust

Tension ribbed V-belt tension roller via hex (1) with torque wrench:

new ribbed V-belt

5.0 – 6.5 Nm / 4 – 4.8 lbf. ft.

used ribbed V-belt

7.0 – 8.5 Nm / 5.2 – 6.3 lbf. ft.

  Install

Attach ribbed V-belt tension roller to AC compressor support – tightening torque – 22 Nm / 16 lbf. ft.

Attach cover to ribbed V-belt tension roller.

Attach lower engine compartment cover.
