Function

The functioning of the AR 25 / 35 corresponds on the whole to that of the AR 25 / 35 in the Omega - A / Carlton and Senator - B.

Information about the vehicle speed (speed signal) is now provided by the wheel speed sensors of the ABS control unit (ABS - 2SH); speedometer cable and drive could therefore be removed from the AR 25 / 35.

The ratios for 1st and 2nd gears have been altered and adapted to the 2.0 litre petrol engine and the 2.5 litre turbodiesel engine.

The main new feature is the use of a new automatic transmission fluid, The properties of this automatic transmission fluid with the designation "DEXRONÒ - IIE... " include, among other improved characteristics, improved low temperature viscosity: this has allowed two important modifications to be made to the 4 - speed automatic transmission:

1.    In conjunction with a modified fluid pan and the new check bolt, the realisation of a lower fluid level is possible.

2.    A modified fluid level check, which is less dependent on temperature.

·     Service

The automatic transmission can now only be filled through the check bolt, which is positioned on the side of the fluid pan.

The new fluid level check is described in detail in the Omega - B Service Instructions, group K.
