Notes on trouble-shooting:

Nominal value:

Cause of fault:

(If nominal value is not attained)

·   If only one reversing lamp illuminates during the above check with the selector lever in "R", the circuit of that lamp must be checked

Both reversing lamps are OK

·   Replace defective lamp

·   Check position of selector lever and of selector lever position switch S118

Position OK

·   Carry out adjustment as specified in Service Instructions

·   Ignition OFF

·   Open plug connection X8

·   Using multimeter, measure voltage:

from:    plug X8 (wiring harness side)

                  Ter. D

     to:         ground, Ter. 31

·   Ignition OFF

lower than 0.1 volts

·   Ignition ON

higher than 11.5 V

With ignition OFF voltage higher than 0.1 volts:

·   Short circuit to voltage

from:    plug X8 (wiring harness side)

                  Ter. D

to:         S1 ignition lock Ter. 15

·   S1 ignition lock defective

With ignition ON voltage lower than 11.5 volts:

·   F15 fuse/socket defective

·   Short circuit to ground or circuit interruption

from:    plug X8 (wiring harness side)

                  Ter. D

     to:         fuse F26

·   Short circuit to ground or circuit interruption

     from:    fuse F15

to:         S1 ignition lock Ter. 15

·   Check circuit S1 ignition lock

·   Bridge plug X8 (wiring harness side)

Ter. D and F with electrically fused cable

·   Ignition OFF

Reversing lamps OFF

With ignition OFF, reversing lamps are ON:

·   Short circuit to voltage

from:    plug X8 (wiring harness side)

                  Ter. F

to:         E17 and E18 reversing lamps

·   Ignition ON

Reversing lamps ON

With ignition ON, reversing lamps are OFF:

·   Short circuit to ground or circuit interruption

from:    plug X8 (wiring harness side)

                  Ter. F

to:         E17 and E18 reversing lamps

·   With short circuit to ground check fuse F15

·   Short circuit to voltage or circuit interruption

from:    E17 and E18 reversing lamps

     to:         ground, Ter. 31

·   Check lamp/socket E17 and E18 of reversing lamps

All checks OK

·   Check plug connection X8 of selector lever position switch S118

·   Replace selector lever position switch S118
