·   Disconnect wiring harness plug from:

     K61 Motronic control unit

     K69 Simtec control unit

     K70 DDE control unit

     U4.8 ABS&TC control unit

     (only X 25 XE / X 30 XE)

     K85 transmission control unit

 

 

 

 

·   Connect wiring harness plug:

     K61, K69 or K70 engine control unit

·   Ignition ON

·   Connect dwell meter

     from:    K85 transmission control unit wiring harness plug

                  Ter. 55 (BRGE)

     to:         ground

 

 

 

    Petrol engines

     Ignition ON

 

·   Connect wiring harness plug:

     U4.8 ABS&TC control unit

     (only X 25 XE and X 30 XE engines)

The throttle valve potentiometer is connected to the relevant engine control unit.

The automatic transmission receives a calculated signal, proportional to the throttle valve position, from the engine control unit.

·   Using multimeter, measure voltage

     from:    K85 transmission control unit wiring harness plug

                  Ter. 55 (BRGE)

     to:         ground

lower than 0.1 V

·   Short circuit to voltage

     from:    K85 transmission control unitwiring harness plug

                  Ter. 55 (BRGE)

     to:         U4.8 ABS&TC control unitwiring harness plug Ter. 5 (BRGE)

                  (only X 25 XE / X 30 XE)

     to:         K61 Motronic control unit wiring harness plug

                  Ter. 54 (BRGE)

     to:         K69 Simtec control unit wiring harness plug Ter. 11 (BRGE)

     to:         K70 DDE control unit wiring harness plug Ter. 40 (BRGE)

 

 

·   Ignition OFF

 

 

·   Using dwell meter, measure:

about 5 - 10 %

 

     Engine running at idle speed, operating temperature

     Accelerate briefly

 

 

about 10 %

higher than 20 %

 

    Diesel engines

about 15 %

 

     Ignition ON

     Engine running at idle speed, operating temperature

about 22 %

 

     Accelerate briefly

higher than 40 %

·   Short circuit to ground or circuit interruption

     from:    K85 transmission control unit wiring harness plug

                  Ter. 55 (BRGE)

     to:         K61 Motronic control unit wiring harness plug

                  Ter. 54 (BRGE)

     to:         K69 Simtec control unit wiring harness plug Ter. 11 (BRGE)

     to:         K70 DDE control unit wiring harness plug Ter. 40 (BRGE)

·   Engine control unit defective

 

 

·   Ignition OFF

 

 

·   Ignition ON

 

 

·   Using dwell meter, measure:

     With ignition ON

     Engine running at idle speed, operating

about 5 - 10 %

 

     temperature

about 10 %

·   Short circuit to ground or circuit

     Accelerate briefly
