Before removing toothed belt - set engine to approx. 60 ° before TDC mark.
Before removing the camshaft bearing caps - note identification! The camshaft must be loosened uniformly from the bearing seats.
Remove, Disconnect
Remove camshaft sprockets - see operation "Camshaft Sprockets, Remove and Install".
Loosen camshaft bearing cover in illustrated sequence in spiral motion in stages of 1/2 to 1 turn. Disconnect camshaft bearing cover from cylinder head and remove camshaft.
Clean
Remove gasket remnants and clean sealing surfaces.
Inspect
Check camshaft and bearing seats for wear, replace if necessary.
Install, Connect
Lightly coat sliding surfaces of hydraulic valve lifters and camshaft with MoS 2 lubricating paste (grey). Insert camshaft into cylinder head.
Important!
Code numbers on camshaft bearing caps must match those on cylinder head. Apply adhesive sealant (white) to sealing surface of the guide bearing (1).
Install, Connect
Attach camshaft bearing caps to cylinder head and tighten using spiral pattern in steps of 1/2 up to 1 turn in sequence illustrated - tightening torque 8 Nm / 6 lbf. ft.
Lightly coat sealing lip of the new seal ring with silicone grease (white). Press seal ring with KM-422 into camshaft bearing cap - use fastening bolt and washer of the camshaft pulley.
Install camshaft sprockets - see operation "Camshaft Sprockets, Remove and Install".
