Compression, Check (X 16 XEL with Secondary Air System)  

Engine at operating temperature (oil temperature ≥ 80 ° C / 176 ° F).  

  Remove, Disconnect   

Remove engine cover from cylinder head cover.   Detach spark plug connector using KM-836 (1).   Remove spark plugs with KM-194-E (2).   Detach wiring harness plug from DIS ignition module.

  Remove, Disconnect   

Remove fuel pump relay - see operation "Fuel Pump Relay, Remove and Install (X 16 XEL)".   Use compression recorder (1) with rubber cone and measuring range of up to 1750 kPa (17.5 bar).     Inspect    Actuate starter for approx. 4 seconds with throttle valve fully open - minimum engine speed 300 rpm.   The pressure difference between the individual cylinders should not exceed 100 kPa (1 bar).     Install, Connect    Install fuel pump relay - see operation "Fuel Pump Relay, Remove and Install (X 16 XEL)".   Connect wiring harness plug to DIS ignition module.   Attach spark plugs with KM-194-E to cylinder head - tightening torque 25 Nm / 18 lbf. ft.   Connect spark plug connectors.   Attach engine cover to cylinder head - tightening torque 8 Nm /6 lbf. ft.
