Electronic Components  

The new features in the engine management system EDC 15 M relative to the familiar engine management system EDC MSA 15.6:  

•  Flash programming of engine control unit  

•  Two-part wiring harness plug for engine control unit (engine and body wiring harness)  

•  New fastening of engine control unit  

•  Hot film mass air flow meter with integrated intake air temperature sensor  

•  Discontinuation of separate intake air temperature sensor  

•  Modified pump control unit  

•  Modified wiring harness plug for pump control unit  

•  Preheater system with self-diagnosis in conjunction with new preheater relay  

In addition, for the X 20 DTH in the Omega-B:  

•  Temperature sensor for engine control unit  

In addition, for the X 22 DTH in the Sintra:  

•  Engine control unit regulates radiator fan  

•  Engine speed increase if battery voltage is too low  

•  Fuel quantity increase when AC is switched on (via P109)  

Hot Film Mass Air Flow Meter with Backflow Recognition  

The opening and closing of the valves in a combustion engine produces a pulsating air mass. The hot film mass air flow meter is equipped with backflow recognition to ensure that calculation of the injection quantity includes this factor. Detection of the complete air mass has a positive effect on the exhaust emissions and therefore also the fuel consumption.   The hot film mass air flow meter now features an integrated intake air temperature sensor.     1  Casing   2  Hot film mass air flow meter with backflow recognition   3  5-pin plug connection

Heater Elements  

The introduction of the EDC 15 M engine management system has led to a modification of the preheater system. Instead of the previous preheating relay, a preheating control unit with semiconductors is used. In addition, the conductor bridges between the heater elements have been replaced by four individual wiring harness plugs. The heater elements (1) have been adapted to the new wiring harness plugs (2) by omitting the threaded stem.  

The preheater system now features self-diagnosis and can be checked with TECH 2.
