Engine Damping Block|Description and Operation > < Engine Damping Blocks, Engine, Short- Block - Front Engine Damping Blocks, Remove and Install

 

Rear Engine Damping Block, Remove and Install  

Object Number: 616191  Size: DEFAULT  Remove, Disconnect   

For 16 LZ2: Detach air intake hose from air cleaner housing and from air intake cover.  

For 20 NEJ: Detach wiring harness plug from hot film mass air flow meter and wiring harness plug from intake air temperature sensor. Remove air intake hose from upper part of air cleaner housing and from throttle body.  

Disconnect torque support (1) from both torque support brackets.  

With version with manual transmission: loosen clamp from shift lever and separate shift guide from shift lever.  

Version with automatic transmission: Press selector lever actuation cable off actuating lever for selector lever shaft - see operation "Selector Lever Actuation Cable, Remove and Install" in group "K".  

Attach engine to Engine Bridge KM-883-1. Lift engine until rear engine damping block is relieved of its load - ensure that no attaching parts are damaged.

Object Number: 616191  Size: DEFAULT  Remove, Disconnect   

Remove fastening bolts (1) from engine damping block. Remove fastening bolts (3) from bracket engine damping block.  

Remove engine damping block with engine damping block bracket downwards.  

Remove fastening bolts (2) from engine damping block.  

Object Number: 616192  Size: DEFAULT  Install, Connect   

Attach engine damping block by means of fastening bolts (2) to engine damping block bracket - 45 Nm / 33 lbf. ft.  

Place engine damping block with engine damping block bracket on front axle body.  

Attach engine damping block using fastening bolts (1) to front axle body - tightening torque 20 Nm / 15 lbf. ft.  

Attach engine damping block bracket to transmission with new fastening bolts (3) - tightening torque 60 Nm / 44 lbf. ft. 1) .  

Object Number: 2392711  Size: DEFAULT

1)  Recut thread before re-use and insert fastening bolts with screw locking compound (red). The installation time including the torque check is max. 5 min.  

 

 

Object Number: 616192  Size: DEFAULT  Install, Connect   

Lower engine and remove Engine Bridge MKM-883-1.  

Version with MT: attach shift guide to shift rod with clamp (1) - 16 Nm / 12 lbf. ft. Adjust shift, see operation "Transmission Shift Linkage, Adjust" in group "K".  

Version with AT: Fasten selector lever actuation cable to actuating lever for selector lever shaft - see operation "Selector Lever Actuation Cable, Remove and Install" in group "K".  

Connect torque support to both torque support brackets - tightening torque 60 Nm / 44.2 lbf. ft.

Notice: 

Before assembling components of the intake system (hoses, connections, etc.), they must be cleaned of any possible contamination (grease, oil, etc.). When tightening the hose clamps, be sure to observe exactly the tightening torque of 3.5 Nm / 2.6 lbf. ft.  

Object Number: 616201  Size: DEFAULT  Important!   

It is only ensured that the intake system is free of leaks, thus ensuring operational safety of the engine, if the hose clamps are tightened correctly to the prescribed tightening torque.  

Object Number: 616192  Size: DEFAULT  Install, Connect   

For 16 LZ2: Attach air intake hose to upper part of air cleaner housing and to air intake cover.  

For 20 NEJ: Attach air intake hose to upper part of air cleaner housing and to throttle body.  

Connect wiring harness plug to hot film mass air flow meter and to intake air temperature sensor.
