Won't Maintain Adjustment > < Two-mass flywheel - Diagnosis

Subject:

A number of complaints have been received concerning temperature gauges reading high ( in red zone ).

Vehicles:

Vectra and Omega B with X20XEV engine.

Condition:

There are a small number of engines manufactured with a defective temperature sensor supplied by Zertan in Spain.

Defective sensors can be identified by the manufacturers logo and production date stamp between 98/12 and 99/07 which  are stamped on the hexagonal flats of the unit as shown below.

Remedy:

Please carry out a cross check with Tech 2 and verify the engine temperature by using the coolant temperature sensor for the Fuel Injection system. If the coolant sensor shows a different temperature reading than the temperature gauge, the temperature gauge sensor is defective.
