Vectra B
Neutral Shift Reason: During stops at traffic lights or traffic jams, to reduce noxious emissions and fuel consumption and prevent transmission idling vibration. The program can be activated in all driving programs and selector lever positions D, 3, 2 and 1 when
- the brake lamp switch is closed (service brake depressed) and - the vehicle speed V = 0 km/h (0 mph) (determined via transmission output speed sensor, - the accelerator pedal is not moved.
The "driving stage neutral" (opening of forwards clutch C1) is engaged without the selector lever position being changed. The transmission shifts back to the original driving stage when
- the brake lamp switch is opened again (service brake released) or - the accelerator pedal is actuated (throttle valve position TV > 9% or - the vehicle speed is higher than 4 km/h (2.5 mph).
Notice: The "neutral shift" program does not operate at transmission fluid temperatures T < 0 ° C/32 ° F . To enable this special driving program to be realised, an additional solenoid valve, the "neutral shift" solenoid valve has been added to the valve body, near the pressure regulator.
4.1.4 Neutral Shift (continued) Illus. F 4997 shows the position of the "neutral shift" solenoid valve (2) in the valve body.
