Shift Cover, Disassemble and Reassemble (F 13/F 15/F 17/F 18/F 18+)  

  Remove, Disconnect   

Remove shift cover - see operation "Shift Cover, Remove and Install and/or Seal (F 13/F 15/F 17/F 18/F 18+)".  

  Disassemble   

For gate shifting: Install shift cover on KM-982 (3). Clamp KM-982 in vice. pull intermediate shift lever catch sleeve with KM-328-B (1) and KM-983-2 (2) out of shift cover (I). Pull gate guide rod out of shift cover (II) with KM-328-B and KM-983-1 (4).   Remove snap ring (5) with ring pliers from intermediate shift lever. Remove bushing (6), pressure spring (7) and washer (8).   Remove shift cover from KM-982.

  Disassemble   

Turn shifter rod (2) with shift finger in direction of arrow and remove intermediate shift lever (1).   Drive out spring pin with drift from shift finger (3) - note recess in cover. Pull shifter rod out cover.   Lever out seal ring (4) from cover.     Important!    Do not further disassemble cover.

  Assemble   

Coat new seal ring with grease and drive flush in cover with suitable sleeve (1).   Slide shifter rod in cover and shift finger. Drive new spring pin in shift finger and shifter rod - allow spring pin to protrude approx. 2 mm.   Insert intermediate shift lever in cover - shift finger must sit in intermediate shift lever.   Place washer (5), spring (4) and sleeve (3) on shifter rail. Install new snap ring (2).

  Install, Connect   

For gate shift: attach shift cover to KM-982. Drive guide pins for gate (2) into shift cover - ensure that guide pins are seated in gate.   Drive intermediate selector press sleeve (1) into cover with suitable sleeve (3) - ensure that press sleeve is not damaged. Remove shift cover from KM-982.   Install shift cover - see operation "Shift Cover, Remove and Install and/or Seal (F 13/F 15/F 17/F 18/F 18+)".
