Fuel gauge - Incorrect indication, desired capacity not reached

Complaint:

Electrical failures, Wrong Indication

Incorrect fuel gauge resp. desired capacity not reached.

 

Cause:

Fuel gauge indicating instrument defect or upper shell of fuel tank hollowed, resp. fuel tank filling ventilation pipe positioned wrongly. Improved fuel tank in production.

 

Production Solution:

Improved fuel tanks are as of V.I.N. T1 083 901 /T5 092 026 and T7 529 140 in production.

No

 

 

Remedy:

1.    Check electrical components of fuel gauge

       -      pull of connector X21 from tank module and connect an resistor with 38 Ohm between PIN's C /D. After switching ignition on the fuel gauge must display 60 L.

       -      If the fuel gauge doesn't display 60 L, check PIN C of connector X21 against ground: rated value: < 1 Ohm

       -      If the rated value is reached and the fuel gauge displays wrong capacity, replace complete instrument.

2.    Check fuel tank with integrated fuel gauge

       -      Open service aperture at fuel tank check the correct arresting of fuel sender at the swirl pot and the freedom of motion of the float.

       -      If no faults are detected, replace fuel tank.

 

       Service has only OK parts
