Leaks in the cooling system and the operation of the pressure relief valve in the cap can be checked with the tester V.A.G 1274.

Checking cooling system

• ‒ Set up the tester on the expansion tank or radiator.
• ‒ Generate a pressure of approx. 1.0 bar with the hand pump of the tester. If the pressure drops off, locate and eliminate the leak.

Checking radiator cap

• ‒ → Place the cap on the tester.
• ‒ Generate pessure with hand pump.

• ‒ Cap 171 121 321 A
  0.9...1.15 bar
• ‒ Cap 171 121 321 B
  1.2...1.35 bar
• ‒ Cap 171 121 321 D
  1.2...1.5 bar
• the valve should open.

Note:

Only the caps with the higher operating pressure are supplied as sevice parts.
